Mark Logic 2006 User Conference — May 23-25, 2006

The Mark Logic 2006 User Conference was held May 23-25, 2006 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Burlingame, California — on the beautiful San Francisco Bay and convenient to San Francisco International Airport (SFO) and our San Mateo headquarters.

Who Should Attend

The Mark Logic User Conference is for XQuery developers, content application architects, and content technology and business managers who want to get an in-depth technical briefing on the latest MarkLogic Server features and capabilities, hear how other companies are implementing applications using MarkLogic, and network with others in the Mark Logic user community.

Why You Should Attend

This year's conference was a dynamic and interactive forum to preview the latest Mark Logic products and technologies, gain real-world application insights from other users, and exchange best practices directly with other attendees and Mark Logic's own technologists. The highlight of the conference was a series of technical presentations that delve into new features planned for the next release of MarkLogic Server. Among the topics covered by the Mark Logic technology presentations were:

• Enhancements to search and retrieval functionality, including new scoring and relevance ranking features.
• New analytical capabilities that enable MarkLogic Server to help you find your way through your content.
• Point-in-time queries — can you say "time travel" fast 5 times?
• XML Contentbase Connector (XCC), a powerful new way to interface Java and .Net applications with MarkLogic Server.
• Extensive new options and techniques for dramatically increasing application performance.
• And, the opportunity to participate in a dialog with our product team about future requirements and directions.

In addition, we had "live from the front" presentations from members of the Mark Logic user community, including JetBlue Airways, Oxford University Press, O'Reilly Media, and others. And, of course, there was plenty of time for networking both during conference sessions and after-hours.

The conference ran from 9AM to 5PM Tuesday, May 23 and Wednesday, May 24 and from 9AM to 12 Noon Thursday, May 25. Mark Logic hosted a welcome reception at the hotel Tuesday evening, and a dinner event at a local restaurant Wednesday evening.

The Mark Logic 2006 User Conference was free of charge to registered attendees. If you've attended previous conferences, you know that even if we had doubled the price it would still have been the best bargain in town.

Skills Enhancement Classes

In conjunction with the User Conference we bracketed the main event with two unique training opportunities.

• Before the conference on Monday, May 22, was a one-day Introductory Tutorial designed specifically to help those new to XQuery and/or MarkLogic Server get up to speed quickly and be able to get the most out of the conference. This class was taught by Mark Logic's Matt Turner Cost: $495.00.
• After the conference was an Advanced Performance Tuning Workshop to aid our customers in getting the most out of their MarkLogic Server application. The workshop ran 1:30PM to 5:00PM Thursday, May 25 and continued from 9:00AM until 12 Noon Friday, May 26. With all the new performance features coming up, this was a can't miss opportunity to hone your skills in this area. This class was taught by Mark Logic's Michael Blakeley Cost: $995.00.
